Duke EnergyWise^® Home offers rewards for helping shift energy use away from peak periods. If you have a Smart Thermostat, or an HVAC system with heat strips or a Water Heater you can qualify for up to $75 off your bill. Watch this video explanation.

NCDHHS Energy Bill Payment Assistance Programs offered by The North Carolina Division of Social Services (NCDHHS) (828) 250-5500 includes the following two programs:

• The Low Income Energy Assistance (LIEAP) provides a one-time annual vendor payment to help eligible families pay their heating expenses.
• The Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) serves individuals and families who are experiencing or in danger of experiencing a heating or cooling-related crisis.

Hope4NC Helpline assists individuals in communities as they recover from Hurricane Helene’s devastating impacts. If you are experiencing stress, emotional fatigue, a mental health crisis, or just need someone to talk to.

Habitat and ARCHR (Asheville Regional Coalition for Home Repair) is offering free home repairs for low-income homeowner (must have deed in your name) – must qualify as 80% AMI (average median income).

Renew NC Housing NC government funded programs for storm impacted homes
– Single-Family Housing Program provides centralized housing rehabilitation, reconstruction or replacement program for low-to-moderate income  families with seniors aged 62 and older, children, and/or disabled household members impacted by Hurricane Helene.
– Small Rental Rehabilitation Program helps eligible rental property owners (landlords) repair, reconstruct, or replace small rental properties (1–4 units) damaged by Hurricane Helene.

Energy Saver NC Rebate Program – for all NC residents with less than 80%-150% AMI (average median income), can help for fuel switching clients (those who use oil or gas for their appliances but want to switch to electric), must use a registered contractor.

• HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates) – Rebates designed to help low to median income households install new efficient electric equipment and supporting upgrades, such as an electrical panel, wiring, or insulation and air sealing while receiving an instant discount at the time of installation by a Registered Contractor.
• HOMES (Homeowners Managing Efficiency Savings) – Rebates designed to help low to median income households with improvements that boost your home’s energy efficiency while receiving an instant discount at the time of installation by a Registered Contractor. This requires a Home Energy Audit with blower door test to see if a minimum of 20% modeled energy savings was achieved with insulation, air sealing, and upgraded heating and cooling systems.
